A big thanks to Makerie for donating wool and the Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin Canberra for organising the beanie campaign.

The beanies were hand-knitted by many talented women from the Canberra Knitters and Crocheters group and donated to Vinnies Night Patrol. A special thanks for all your efforts!

Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin Scholarship Awards Ceremony

On 3 April 2023, the Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin (RCAG) awarded three scholarships to Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) students studying for their Certificate III in Individual Support (Aging and Disability).

The Awards were presented by President Alan Hurdle to Stacey and Michael.  The third recipient Gabriel was on practical training and unable to attend.  The Scholarships will assist students to acquire work uniforms and help equip the students during the final year of their training.

The award ceremony was held on Bruce campus of CIT and was facilitated by the CIT Staff and teachers.  Representatives of the CIT teaching staff in Individual Care, Student Support staff, Rotary Clubs of Aurora Gungahlin and Ginninderra, Canberra CareersXpo and the ACT Education Directorate attended the ceremony.

The awards were made possible through a generous donation from Canberra CareersXpo Pty Ltd.

St Monica's School Garden

RotaryGinninderra, together with their mates from Rotary Aurora Gungahlin, worked with teachers and kids at St Monica’s School to build an environmentally appropriate community garden.

It includes a series of compost bins for food and other green waste from the school.

It also includes a series of raised gardens that will use the compost created.

Bushes and small trees were planted around the complex for aesthetics and to protect the gardens.

Bunnings Belconnen donated the equipment, plants and shrubs.

Two colleagues from Bunnings also worked with Rotary and the kids to build this wonderful area for the school.

Just part of a great sense of community in our area.

Rotary Clubs in other areas might like to discuss this initiative with a local school and then approach Bunnings for assistance.
